Successful exhibition of new Plasmatreat generator 5001 at PLASTEC Midwest

From September 28th – 30th PLASTICS USA | PLASTEC Midwest opened its doors at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Over 1100 exhibitors offered plastics professionals the opportunity to see, compare, and evaluate the complete range of product and service resources for the plastics processing industry.

Plasmatreat displayed the recently released 5001 generator for the first time in the United States at the Plastec Midwest show.  This striking, newly designed generator, provides a higher level of plasma energy that remains constant even with severe variations in the incoming supply voltage.
Increased process parameter monitoring and control is also included with this new series.

In order to comply with the rigid requirements of various industries such as automotive, aerospace and medical, optional fibre-optic light feedback and rotational monitoring is available with this generator to verify that plasma is present during the entire cycle of an automated process.

In addition to the new generator, Tim Smith and Shaun Glogauer from Plasmatreat North America, Inc. as well as Gerry Dziedzina from Six Sigma Marketing Inc. demonstrated the patented Openair®  rotation jet RD1004. While individual jets have a relatively small exit angle and are more suitable for treating narrow areas,  rotary plasma jets have an operating width of up to 130 mm per jet at treatment speeds of up to 40 m/min.

Multi-jet rotary systems are also available for pretreating relatively large surface areas. These systems incorporate the use of an array of jets, designed for the particular product geometry.  This provides the flexibility to treat both complicated parts such as bumper fascia or 2-dimensional profiles such as weather stripping or films. The typical rise in temperature of a plastic surface during treatment is ΔT < 20 °C, although this is somewhat dependent on the treatment speed and material.

With great interest, customers from a variety of different industries - such as from Automotive, Medical, Electronics, Aerospace and Packaging - used the chance to have their own samples treated at the Plasmatreat booth and discuss their needs with the expert team.
