One-stop shop – Plasmatreat at CHINAPLAS 2009

As a supplier of complete system solutions Plasmatreat presented itself in May at CHINAPLAS in Guangzhou. With over 1,700 international exhibitors and over 70,000 visitors this annual exhibition has grown to be the most important forum in the Chinese plastics and rubber industry.

Calvin Chen, Head of the Shanghai Plasmatreat Technology Centre, and his colleagues Hendry He, Jenny Chen and James Deng, presented a wide-ranging set of exhibits. This year they were directed primarily at visitors from the automotive sector, white goods manufacturers, packaging producers, electronics technology and medical technology and also at manufacturers of chemical building materials. Apart from the standard applications of “plasma prior to adhesive bonding, printing or coating” the specialist public was equally impressed by three innovations which could be seen in full action:

  • On the basis of a hub cap robot installation Plasmatreat demonstrated its standing not only as a developer and supplier of plasma systems but equally as a supplier of complete system solutions.
  • With the aid of the Plasmatreater AS400 laboratory test device the wettability of plastic with water after plasma treatment was tested.
  • The third highlight dealt with two-component injection moulding. A new Openair plasma process allows the use of low-cost structural components in rigid-flexible composites and creates strong joints between normally uncombinable plastics.

Visitors also took great interest in the presentation on the stand of the tampon printing system partner KENT. Here the pretreatment of plastics prior to printing was demonstrated with the aid of a rotary jet.
