The high activating effect of plasma makes possible secure and durable adhesive joints between plastics.

The bonding of glass, metal, plastic, fabrics and films imposes high demands in many industrial applications. There are innumerable examples of applications in the field of plastics bonding where Plasmatreat’s Openair plasma can significantly improve bonding performance.

Apart from joints between plastics, Plasmatreat’s Openair® plasma technology has been successfully employed in the structural bonding of parts to be assembled. Thus, for example, in the automotive industry entire radiator assemblies for trucks are pretreated in the region of the bonding surfaces. Here plasma technology replaces all conventional cleaning or pretreatment processes and ensures high bonding strength.

Through collaboration in projects of the AIF (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für industrielle Forschungsvereinigungen “Otto von Guericke” e.V. [Association of Industrial Research Consortia]) and years of process development, Plasmatreat possesses an extensive database on adhesion technology. This provides detailed information about which adhesives can best be made to adhere to the surface of a material when Plasmatreat’s plasma technology is used.
