Fraunhofer IFAM: partner from the outset

Picture: IFAM
The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing and Advanced Materials (IFAM) is the biggest independent research establishment in Europe in the area of industrial adhesive technologies. In the field of plasma technology, we engage in research and development projects for the pre-treatment of materials which, through this treatment, get supplementary properties that qualify them for other application fields.
Yet in the mid-90s, long before Plasmatreat advanced to a world-wide acting business, the company presented their discovery of potential-free atmospheric pressure “Openair” plasma to us. IFAM recognised the big potential of this invention right away, and started the cooperation as development partner of Plasmatreat.
The existing and future common projects in research and development are based on a strong partnership between IFAM and Plasmatreat. Together, R+D projects are initiated which run over a long time period and are targeted at the establishment of future markets and the common development of patents. The close cooperation yields the development of specific processes for the customers of Plasmatreat today.
I want to point out that the long-standing, good cooperation between IFAM and Plasmatreat would not be possible without the existence of a very strong mutual trust between the two partners. Such a confidence is one of the most important preconditions for the success of the common projects.
