Stronger welds, faster
There are few industries more competitive than metal fabrication and every advantage manufacturers can get needs to be capitalized on. The strength and speed of a weld is affected by impurities and contaminants on the surface of the metal that lead to formation of bubbles and pores within the weld.

When the surfaces to be welded are treated with Openair® plasma, the contaminants are removed and the resulting weld can be achieved more quickly and is stronger.

No additional surface conditioning is necessary, and surface treatment can give significant savings especially for large production runs. Only the weld area is cleaned, so dry lubricants and corrosion protection oils remain on the rest of the part. Successful installations have been obtained for laser and MIG weld seams on Al-MG and zinc coated mild steel.

The Openair® plasma nozzle can be mounted ahead of the welding head, allowing the surfaces to be cleaned and welded in a single pass. |
