Following the trends of modern mobility, the demands on EV batteries are increasing both in the area of assembly and in terms of durability, resistance and temperature management. Adhesive bonding technology plays an important role here.

For example, looking more closely at the cylindrical cells’ production: pretreating the cells before applying the gap filler is a crucial factor in strengthening adhesion and improving thermal conductivity. This saves material while increasing quality. Moreover, the trend to structurally bond cells directly to the tray, is positively influenced by the use of atmospheric plasma.

Regardless the cell design, fast and reliable inline surface pretreatment is a prerequisite for achieving the best possible bonds.
Learn more about Openair-Plasma® and its advantages:

  • Optimization of bonding issues during module assembly for efficient thermal management and reliable electrical insulation.
  • Solving problems by cleaning or activating surfaces
  • Enlargement of process windows through appropriate pretreatment
  • Solving electrical potential problems when treating the anode of cylindrical batteries prior to wire bonding
  • Preventing bondline corrosion to protect the entire battery tray from critical environmental conditions
  • Offering (or ensuring) a fully automated and controlled inline process

In this free of charge PlasmaTalk Lukas Buske will showcase the main benefits of using Openair-Plasma® applications during the battery assembly process. Activation and cleaning of surfaces during production of battery cells and housings are the key to high product quality and reliability.

This no-charge PlasmaTalk is aimed at research, development and quality control personnel as well as designers, process engineers and operators of production equipment in industrial processes. The PlasmaTalk will last approximately 40-60 minutes plus a question-and-answer session.
