Addressing the topic VOC reduction, Dr. Alexander Knospe, Head of Innovation Management and Patents, explains why plasma is a future-proof alternative for surface treatment of plastics in his PlasmaTalk.

The use of Openair-Plasma® on plastics leads to a modification of the surface. By this treatment, adhesives, lacquers and other coating materials can be bonded without the use of a chemical primer. This saves solvents and also protects the environment. The PlasmaTalk uses different applications to show how plasma can make a significant contribution to environmental protection.

After participating in this PlasmaTalk you will know more about:

  •     Openair-Plasma® - how does it change the surface and why can it replace primer and reduce CO2 emissions?
  •     Cost advantages due to an efficient and environmentally friendly production
  •     Future possibilities of sustainable plasma treatment

This no-charge PlasmaTalk is aimed at research, development and quality control personnel as well as designers, process engineers and operators of production equipment in industrial processes.

This PlasmaTalk is the first of in a series of three and highlights the basic relationships and uses of Openair-Plasma®, which is the simplest method for cleaning and activation of surfaces. In bonding applications where the Openair approach is not sufficient, the adhesion-promoting layer PT-Bond comes into play. Klaus Kresser, Market Segment Manager Bonding, will present a PlasmaTalk on this subject on October 19th, 2021. Lastly, Dr. Dhia Ben Salem, Team Leader Research and Dr. Daphne Pappas, R&D Manager for Plasmatreat USA will demonstrate how plasma treatments can be used to customize surfaces to meet special material requirements on October 21st, 2021.

Register here for the third PlasmaTalk about how to customize your surface - October 21st, 2021

The PlasmaTalk will last approximately 40-60 minutes plus a question and answer session. If you have a specific question, please send it in advance to academy@plasmatreat.de so that we can incorporate it into the program.
