When the building shell is completed, it's time for topping out. This important milestone for the new office and laboratory building at the Plasmatreat subsidiary in Birkenfeld was reached on 22 June 2018. Together with representatives from the building contractor and the town council, the entire workforce, friends and family members, a traditional topping out ceremony was performed after a six-month construction period and the newly created space could at last be inspected.

The building complex

Special attention was paid to the spatial layout during the planning stage. The open-plan spaces are designed to present plasma technology to customers and visitors in a clear and accessible manner. Laboratories equipped with the latest plasma technology and high-quality display areas on the 1200 m2 floor space place the focus firmly on customer-driven applications engineering. A service workshop and function rooms for seminars, training courses and events complete the concept.

Joachim Schüßler, Sales Director Germany and Manager of Plasmatreat South, describes the building project: 'The building is designed to symbolize our plasma generators in terms of both form and color. Thanks to the design concept provided by local building contractor Schumacher + Partner, we have achieved a functional solution that is perfectly suited to this rural plot and to the customer-specific requirements of applications engineering. The concept also meets high standards of energy efficiency and sustainability and is economical to construct and to operate.

Investing in the future

The construction of this new building underlines Plasmatreat's commitment to Birkenfeld in Württemberg. The region in south west Germany is an important market for the technology manufacturer, especially with regard to the automotive and supplier industry, modern electronics manufacturing, packaging and medical engineering. Investing in this subsidiary thus represents a major investment in the future in terms of Plasmatreat's growth.

The building will be ready for occupancy in October 2018. Schüßler: "I'm already looking forward to opening this building towards the end of the year, when customers, guests and employees of Plasmatreat South will have a prestigious, state-of-the-art building at their disposal and I will be able to say: "We brought this project to fruition with great enthusiasm and dedication!"
