The Joseph-von-Fraunhofer prize - valued at 20,000 euros - has been awarded by Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. One of the four 2012 prizes was awarded to Dr. Jörg Ihde and Dr. Uwe Lommatzsch for the development, accomplished in cooperation with Plasmatreat, of the functional nano-layer technology PlasmaPlus®.

Ford Automotive, Dearborn, Mich., with significant support from Plasmatreat, Elgin, IL, has devised a solution which utilizes atmospheric plasma for direct glazing of automobiles allowing green pre-treatment without VOC emissions. For this new process Ford was granted a global patent.
