Plasmatreat enjoyed a successful presence at Productronica China in March – its third time at this exhibition. This year China's leading trade fair for the development and production of electronic products attracted over 1000 exhibitors from 28 countries and almost 56,000 visitors.
Calvin Chen (CEO Plasmatreat China) and his booth team James Deng, Anson Shao and Allen Cheng chose to focus their stand on the plasma treatment of circuit boards (PCB/SMT) before conformal coating or molding. Using the newly developed RD2500 double rotary nozzle system, visitors could experience live how potential-free Openair® plasma intensively cleans and activates circuit boards without damaging the sensitive electronics. They could also closely observe the plasma effect on circuit boards before bonding or solder masking.
Plasma treatment increases the surface energy of the plastic, which in turn greatly increases bonding strength in subsequent dosing, sealing or coating processes during assembly of circuit boards (SMT). Plasma experts demonstrated to industry professionals visiting the stand the extent to which the plasma activates the surface using a contact angle meter. The instrument allows for reading off the comparative values before and after plasma treatment in just a few seconds.
The Plasmatreat China team were delighted with the level of interest shown by visitors to the stand. "With over 40 percent more visitors than in previous years, this was our most successful presence at this show yet", announced Calvin Chen. "Many specialists in the electronics industry were pleasantly surprised to discover that our plasma is both potential-free and extremely effective. We are looking forward to welcoming them to Plasmatreat's Technology Center in Shanghai in the coming weeks, when they will bring in some test specimens and work with us to find tailored solutions to optimize their adhesive processes.
