Many things are lacquered, e.g. to protect them against corrosion and/ or to give them an optical appearance. For this purpose, coatings are used that are highly resistant to chemicals and scratches. However, if an adhesive is to bond well to these surfaces at the same time, this is a contradiction to the requirements of the surface. Our technology solves this problem elegantly.

In this PlasmaTalk, Klaus Kresser, Global Market Segment Manager Bonding Applications at Plasmatreat, explains how solvent- and dust-free adhesion promotion on coatings can be realized with Openair-Plasma® technology. The pretreatment of the surface can be adjusted depending on the area and intensity. In addition, the pretreatment is controlled inline via various quality assurance modules.

Another focus is the adhesion improvement by chemical functionalization of coated surfaces. Plasma polymerization with the PlasmaPlus® process is already being used successfully for surface coating in a large number of different industrial applications.

After participating in this PlasmaTalk you will know more about:

  • Differentiation of plasma pretreatment and other methods
  • Knowledge of the influences and adhesion mechanisms of plasma treatment especially on paints in comparison to other substrates as well as to different paint and adhesives technologies
  • Overview of suitable plasma hardware set-up for paint applications
  • Practical examples

This no-charge PlasmaTalk is aimed at research, development and quality control personnel as well as designers, process engineers and operators of production equipment in industrial processes.

The PlasmaTalk will run for appr. 40 - 60 min. including FAQs. If you have a specific problem or question, please send your question in advance to academy@plasmatreat.com and we will be happy to include it into the program.
