In medical technology and the life sciences, the quality and safety of the final product depend on the condition of its surfaces. For components that are bonded, coated, or painted, the condition of the surface is crucial for reliable performance.

A reliable bond between materials always begins with proper surface treatment. This process involves modifying the surface in a targeted manner to prepare it optimally for the next step. This may entail increasing surface energy for improved wettability, removing microscopic contaminants, or functionalization for specialized coatings. The challenge lies in achieving these modifications reproducibly, in accordance with standards, and sustainably.

Our technologies enable contactless, chemical-free, and highly effective surface treatment. Openair Plasma® thoroughly sterilizes, micro-cleans, and activates surfaces for stable composite materials. PlasmaPlus® takes it a step further, enabling the application of functional coatings precisely tailored to subsequent applications, such as improved adhesion, barrier properties, and special chemical functionalities.

After participating in this PlasmaTalk with Erhard Krampe, the Market Segment Manager of Medical Technology, you will know more about:

  • Openair Plasma® and its effects on surfaces
  • HydroPlasma® for heavy contamination
  • Material composites that are only possible with plasma
  • Industrial applications in medical technology and life sciences

This free PlasmaTalk is aimed at professionals in research, development, and quality control, as well as designers, process engineers, and production facility operators in industrial processes who seek proven solutions that can be implemented immediately and refuse to compromise.

The PlasmaTalk lasts approximately 40–60 minutes, including FAQs. Please note that due to our international audience, we will be using UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Please check your time zone using the TimeCalc calculator below.

If you have a specific problem or question, please send it to academy@plasmatreat.com in advance, and we will be happy to include it in the program.

Erhard Krampe

Manager for Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange MSM Medical Technology

Erhard Krampe studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and worked on rapid prototyping, silicone processing and the development of a thermoplastic metal at the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) as part of his main studies. The subject of his diploma thesis was crystallization effects in moving plastic melts. After a period in the application technology department of a leading silicone manufacturer, Erhard Krampe was a research assistant and academic advisor at the Chair of Medical Technology (Medtech) at the Technische Universität of Munich. He has been heading of the medical technology market segment at Plasmatreat GmbH for 7 years. At the end of 2019, the Plasmatreat Academy was founded, which he heads as Manager for Technology Transfer and Knowledge Exchange.
