Packaging manufacturers face the challenge of balancing functional performance, efficient production, and evolving sustainability requirements. At the same time, packaging surfaces must meet the requirements of subsequent processing steps, such as printing, coating, and bonding.

This PlasmaTalk explains how industrial surface treatment is integrated into modern packaging processes. The focus is on solutions and decision-making criteria for packaging applications. A separate section is devoted to metal decoration, with a particular emphasis on UV coatings and UV printing on metal.

Packaging solutions start with the surface

Packaging concepts typically involve a variety of materials, surface finishes, and subsequent manufacturing steps. When planning a production process, various factors must be taken into account, including the component, its geometry, the production environment, and the required follow-up process. Another important aspect is surface treatment.

Depending on the application, Openair-Plasma® enables selective, localized, continuous, or automated surface treatment. It can be integrated into standalone units, modular systems, or complete production lines. Openair-Plasma® is Plasmatreat’s atmospheric plasma technology.

Bas Buser und Joachim Schüßler combine general challenges in the packaging sector with practical aspects of surface treatment. About two-thirds of the event focuses on packaging solutions and sustainable packaging concepts. The remaining third focuses on metal finishing and the role of surface preparation in UV coating and UV printing processes.

After this PlasmaTalk, you'll know more about

  1. How to Evaluate Surface Treatment Requirements for Various Packaging Applications
  2. how factors such as material, surface characteristics, and subsequent processes influence the selection of an appropriate treatment method
  3. where Openair-Plasma® can be integrated into packaging production and how standalone, modular, and automated integration concepts differ from one another
  4. Why UV coatings and UV printing on metal require an application-specific surface evaluation

Learn how to evaluate atmospheric plasma treatment in the context of packaging processes, sustainable packaging concepts, and metal decoration. The event combines a broad perspective on the packaging industry with a focused look at UV coating and UV printing on metal.

Practical insights and live Q&A

The 40- to 60-minute PlasmaTalk will provide practical insights into plasma surface treatment for medical applications, followed by a live Q&A session.
